On April 9, 1999 the Placentia Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 75th Anniversary. Its historical records tell of a colorful and fascinating past. On the 27th day of December1923, a few citizens of Placentia met at the Round Table Club House to work on incorporation papers, establishing the Chamber's purpose and elect the first Board of Directors.  After certifying and declaring the name of the organization to be "The Placentia Chamber of Commerce," they agreed upon the following mission statement:

"The purpose for which said corporation is formed is to aid by all honorable and praiseworthy methods the improvement and beautifying unincorporated village of Placentia."

They determined that the term of the corporation "is to exist fifty years from and after the date of its incorporation," not knowing then that we would continue to exist beyond that time.

On April 9, 1924, the official papers were filed.

The first Board of Directors appointed A. S. Bradford as President.  He was a city leader in laying out the Placentia townsite between 1910 and 1912.

The Chamber's slogan in the early days was "Placentia-the rich little town."

As part of the Chamber's celebration in 1999, a history booklet and historical poster was published and is available at the Chamber's office.

Placentia Chamber of Commerce is proud of its past, and in this new millennium, look forward to continued active involvement in making Placentia the vibrant, pleasant, and rich little community it is today.
